WAEC Cancels Witheld Results Engaged With Exam Malpractice

The Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC), at its 61st general meeting held at Excellence Hotel and Conference Centre, Ogba, Lagos, cancelled all the results of candidates involved in examination malpractices during the 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
In a statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer of WAEC, Mr. Damianus Ojijeogu, the committee received reports on Special, Irregularity and Clemency Cases on the May/June 2015 WASSCE.
The statement said that the Committee approved that the entire results of candidates involved in proven cases, which attract Cancellation of Entire Results (CER) be cancelled, while subject results of those involved in proven cases which attract Cancellation of Subject Results (CSR), be similarly cancelled.
It said that some candidates who participate in examination malpractice will also suffer other sanctions such as being barred from sitting for the Council’s examinations for a certain number of years, while some schools which connive with students to cheat will be de-recognised.
It, however promised that the results of candidates of May/June 2015 WASSCE who were exonerated of examination malpractice by the Committee will be released.
The decisions of the Committee will be implemented without delay and the affected candidates will be duly informed by the Council.
It will be recalled that WAEC withheld result of 118,101 candidates that wrote the 2015 May/June examination.
