The University of Medical Science, Ondo State has been accredited by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN for its MBBS and BDS programmes.

The accreditation followed the verification conducted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) in October to ascertain the facilities and human resources available for the training of medical and dental students.  This was contained in a statement by Temitope Oluwatuyi of the institution’s Public Relations Department.

With this approval, the University can now conduct the first MBBS professional and BDS examinations that will allow the students progress to the next stage of their training programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Friday Okonofua, described the accreditation as a laudable milestone in the history of UNIMED, being the first Medical University in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
